Pitching:
Santana had his deadly fastball-changeup combination working nicely while. He used that pitch to six innings of one-run ball, in which he scattered four hits and two walks while striking out five before exiting with 103 pitches. Fernando Nieve went 2 strong innings striking out 2, and K rod Fransisco Rodriguez closed the game out with a strong 9th inning.

Offense:
Jeff Francoeur drove in a run with a sacrifice fly to score Jason Bay after his leadoff triple, then Rod Barajas stroked an RBI double to center field, Angel Pagan pinch-hitting, since Gary Matthews Jr. started in center field brought in a run with a single up the middle and Alex Cora contributed an RBI groundout. Finally David Wright drove a ball out, just around the foul pole getting the Mets off to a nice 2010 season start!
