Pitching:
The Veteran Andy Pettitte had an excellent start tonight & showed that he still does have alot left in the tank. Pettitte threw 6 innings with only allowing 1 run. The Bullpen also looked incredible for the second straight night, as Chan Ho Park redeemed himself from his Opening Night performance.Park came on in the 7th inning and threw 3 shutout innings, while only giving up one hit, and also striking one out. After Park, one fourth of the core four came on, Mariano Rivera in extra innings the 10th to try to nail down his second save of the season after Granderson's extra inning homerun. Rivera shut the Red Sox down one, two, three in the ninth, to win the 1st series of the year for the Bombers.

Offense:
Tonight for the Yanks, not much was stirring for the offense. They did score 3 runs however, and the first run came on a Nick Swisher RBI single in the top half of the seventh, which allowed Jorge Posada to come on home & tie the ball game up at 1 run a piece. After being all tied up through nine innings, the Yankees went into the tenth, and were very optimistic. They took the lead in the 10th after Curtis Granderson hit his second homerun of the season, and gave the Yankees a 2-1 lead, late in the ballgame. After Granderson's homerun, Brett Gardner got aboard on a one out walk, then Derek Jeter & Nick Johnson followed with walks of their own, which put the Yankees in a bases loaded, one out position with Mark Teixeira coming to the plate. Mark did not get that big hit but did however get another insurance run for Rivera, as he hit into a fielders choice and got Johnson to go to second. It did allow Brett Gardner to score and it gave the Yankees the 3-1 lead.

Offensive Box Score:

1. SS Derek Jeter, 1-3, 1 Walk
2. DH Nick Johnson, 0-4, 2 K, 1 Walk
