Pitching:
The Pitching was stellar for the Mets tonight, as through 3.2 Innings John Maine threw 63 pitches but then exited due to an injury to his non pitching arm. After John Maine exited in the 4th, Hisanori Takahashi was brought on and was outstanding and through 3 innings struck out 7 batters while giving up 1 run. With the holds in the ball game was Raul Valdes, Pedro Feliciano, and the save went to Francisco Rodriguez who lived on the edge of a bridge in the ninth but escaped trouble.

Offense:
Jose Reyes hit third for the 1st time in his career, with Angel Pagan leading off. The Mets got their scoring started in the bottom of the fifth down 1-0 when Ike Davis hit his first major league career homerun which tied the ball game up at 1 a piece. In the bottom of the 6th, an encouraging sign from Jason Bay as he stepped up and lined a RBI triple to score Jose Reyes to give the Mets a 2-1 lead. In the same inning with Jason Bay on third, David Wright had a productive at bat and got a RBI on a sac fly to center field which scored Bay. The Final two runs came in the bottom of the 7th, with Pagan on second and Castillo on 1st, and one out Jose Reyes popped a pitch up in the infield which was dropped by Chipper Jones. Reyes was called out on an infield fly rule. Pagan and Castillo advanced and after Pagan ran to third swiped home and made the ball game a 4-2. The Final run came on a David Wright RBI Single back through the middle to score Luis Castillo.

Things to Note:
  • John Maine is day to day with back spasms & non throwing elbow pain
  • Manuel said in PostGame that he noticed the setback when his velocity was way down
  • 3 Firsts tonight: Ike Davis 1st Major League Home Run, Hisanori Takahashi 1st Major League Career win, Hisanori Takahashi 1st Major League Career hit
  • Reyes hit third for the 1st time in career; first time out of lead off spot in 5 years
  • Jason Heyward struck out 3 times tonight
Game Picture:
The Game Picture was a close one between Hisanori Takahashi & Ike Davis, but it goes to Ike Davis for hitting his first MLB Home Run & through 5 games thus far has a .389 AVG
