PostGame, Mets 3 Rockies 11

New York Mets(2-5)
Colorado Rockies(4-3)

WP: Greg Smith(1-1)
LP: John Maine(0-1)

Starters:

NYM--
John Maine
3.0 IP, 7 Hits, 8 Earned Runs, 3 Walks, 4 Strikeouts, 1 Home Run Allowed

COL-- Greg Smith
7.0 IP, 6 Hits, 2 Earned Runs, 2 Walks, 8 Strikeouts, 1 Home Run Allowed

Pitching:
Well by looking at the box score you can tel it was another rough outing for John Maine as he gave up 8 earned runs pushing his ERA to 13.50 while 6 of those runs came in the 3rd inning. John's delivery was all over the place & he could not command his fastball though he did have his change up working. The Mets need a lengthy start from Jon Niese tomorrow as the bullpen tonight had to work 6 inning, which included appearances from Raul Valdes, Jenrry Mejia, Fernando Nieve, & Hisanori Takahashi. The only reliever that gave up a run was Fernando Nieve who had a rough seventh inning as he gave up 3 of the 11 runs tonight. Otherwise another solid nite from the Mets bullpen.

Offense:
The Mets offense didn't have much going tonight even though they scattered 9 hits one less than the Rockies had. The Mets hit one home run tonight which came in the Top of the 6th when David Wright smacked his 2nd home run of the season to left field. Other offensive notes; Jason Bay drove in his first Mets run on a single to center, and Jose Reyes looked a little bit more comfortable as he had 2 hits tonight.

Defense:
The Mets looked very sloppy tonight as John Maine started his own death inning as he botched a come backer, and then Jose Reyes looked a bit rusty as he was unable to play a ground ball which allowed a run to score; but an error was not charged to Reyes.

Offensive Box Score:

1. SS Jose Reyes, 2-5, 1 Run, 2 K
2. 2B Luis Castillo, 1-4, 1 K
3. 3B David Wright, 2-2, 1 Run, 2 Walks, 1 RBI(4), 1 Home Run(2)
4. LF Jason Bay, 1-3, 1 K, 1 Walk, 1 RBI(1)
5. RF Jeff Francoeur, 1-4, 1 Run, 1 K **7 Game Hitting Streak to start season**
6. 1B Fernando Tatis, 1-4, 1 K
7. C Rod Barajas, 0-3, 1 RBI(5)
8. CF Angel Pagan, 1-4, 1 K
9. SP John Maine, 0-1, 1 K

The Mets will try to put this game in the past, as Jon Niese will head to the hill for his second start in 2010 as he will face Aaron Cook tomorrow night starting at 8:40 PM at Coors Field in Colorado.
