WP: Mike Pelfrey(1-0)
LP: Miguel Batista(0-1)

Starters:

NYM--
Mike Pelfrey
6.0 IP, 4 Hits, 2 Earned Runs, 4 Walks,
4 Strikeouts

WAS-- Garrett Mock
3.1 IP, 4 Hits, 2 Earned Runs, 5 Walks, 3 Strikeouts, 2 Home Runs allowed

Pitching:
For the first time since 2008, i really enjoyed watching Mike Pelfrey. I was at the ballgame in the freezing cold, but it seemed like as the night went on and got colder Pelfrey got better. I noticed that he was getting ahead of the batters which is something he had to improve on. Also he didn't spend as much time in between pitches circling the mound and licking his hand. Even though he did walk 4 batters, at least two of the walks were close enough to where they could of been strikes. Following Pelfrey, Hisanori Takahashi, Fernando Nieve, & Jenrry Mejia came in and threw scoreless innings of relief. Takahashi & Mejia looked much better and more comfortable tonight.

Offense:
The Mets hit the ball 100 times better tonight compared to last night. They scattered 12 hits which produced 8 runs. The Mets were hitting for power tonight, where they hit four home runs, 2 by Rod Barajas & 2 by Jeff Francoeur. Barajas home runs were solo shots, as Francoeur hit one solo shot & a 2 run home run. The last three runs came on RBI singles from, Fernando Tatis, Alex Cora, & David Wright. Ruben Tejada also secured his first major league career hit.

Offensive Box Score:

1. CF Angel Pagan, 1-4, 1 RUN, 1 Walk
2. 2B Alex Cora, 1-4, 1 Walk, 1 RBI(2)
3. 3B David Wright, 2-4, 1 RUN, 1 K, 1 Walk, 1 RBI(3)
4. LF Jason Bay, 1-4, 1 Walk, 3 K
5. 1B Mike Jacobs, 0-2, 1 Walk
--1B Fernando Tatis, 1-2, 1 RUN, 1 K, 1 RBI(2)
6. RF Jeff Francoeur, 2-4, 2 RUNS, 3 RBI(6), 2 Home Runs(2)
7. C Rod Barajas, 2-4, 2 RUNS, 2 RBI(4), 2 Home Runs(2)
8. SS Ruben Tejada, 1-3, 1 RUN, 1 Walk
9. SP Mike Pelfrey, 1-2, 1 K
