Good Signs from Perez & Santana; Maine not so much

Over the past two games, 2 of the Mets biggest starters threw the ball and really came up big, something Mets fans needed to see. Oliver Perez who is coming off a major knee surgery, threw against the new look Detroit Tigers as he pitched 4 no hit innings with only allowing 2 walks and no runs. Perez pitched also on the 7th of March and only lasted 3 inning and allowing 5 runs. Johan Santana threw today against the team he will likely face on Opening Day the Florida Marlins, and he threw 4 shut out inning allowing 2 hits while striking out 4 batters. Santana much like Oliver Perez was roughed up in his first outing as he allowed 4 runs and 6 hits in 1.2 innings. John Maine who has thrown twice this spring training and both against the same team, got roughed up today against the Marlins.Maine came in relief today following Santana and did not make it through 1 inning. As he allowed 6 runs over 5 hits, he walked 4 and struck out 4. Maine did have a nice outing when he started against the Marlins on the 8th of March where he threw 1.2 inning only allowing 1 run and 2 hits, walked 1 and struck out 4.
To me i am not worried with any three and i am so happy with what i saw with Santana and Perez both rebounding from awful starts. I also like the combo of Rod Barajas and Oliver Perez, Perez looked comfortable throwing to him. Maine will be alright, do not get worried about Maine.
