The Houston Astros defeated the New York Mets today by a score of 8-4. Mets ace Johan Santana made his spring training debut and got roughed up for four runs in 2 innings pitched. Santana said "he was pleased with his 47 pitches but not with the result." He gave up homers to both Kaz Matsui and Pedro Feliz.
- The newly aquired Brett Meyers earned the victory for the Astros, going three innings allowing 2 runs. Closer Matt Lindstrom followed up with 2 scoreless himself.
Offense
- David Wright blasted his second spring training homer run, with a runner on base in the first inning.
- Gary Matthews Jr. batted leadoff again, picking himself up a double and a single.
- Ike Davis continued his mosterous hitting, with a homer in the seventh inning, his second of the spring and 11th hit out of 20 at bats.
- Josh Thole had 2 doubles and a RBI.
