Yankees name Phil Hughes 5th starter
The manager of the reigning World Champion Yankees, Joe Girardi announced today that former Yankees setup man Phil Hughes has been named the 5th starter in the rotation for the 2010 season. Hughes, was competing for the number 5 spot with Joba Chamberlain is now in the mix to setup the best closer in baseball, Mariano Rivera. Last season setting up Mo, had an ERA of 3.03, with a record of 8-3 and 96 strikeouts. Hughes pitched in 51 games last season, 7 of which were starts. Just so Yankee fans know, expect the Joba rules to roll over to the Hughes rules.
