According to
Jayson Stark of ESPN.com, the Mets are interested in trading one of their extra catchers such as
Chris Coste or
Omir Santos in exchange for Major League ready pitching depth to put in Triple AAA, just in case of an injury. Now after hearing about this, i read another post that was written by
Jon Paul Morosi of FoxSports.com, and he wrote that the Tigers would really like to trade their 32 year old lefty, Nate Robertson who is owed 10 million dollars in 2010. So that got me thinking, the Tigers current starting catcher is veteran Gerald Laird, with their back up being prospect, and assissant general managers son Alex Avila. So in that case the Tigers could always use another catcher. Tigers General Manager
David Dombrowski would really like to get Robertsons 10 million off the table. What about an Omir Santos for Nate Robertson swap, and ask the Tigers to eat 7 million of his contract, like the Gary Matthews JR. trade. That would be perfect because we know what Nate is capable of, just his health is always a concern.
