My Opinion: Chris Carter over Fernando Tatis

I am probably one of many Mets fans who are tired of looking at the Opening Day Roster with the same names on the team. One of those being Fernando Tatis who has been with the club since 2008. Tatis who was named the double play king last year was really off for a majority of last season until about September were he started to heat up. He is really struggling now in Spring Training where he has an average of .176 with 3 RBIS in 15 games. Fernando is one who we've heard has already made the team, who can play 1st base and the outfield as well, and that decent right handed bat off the bench. I think it is time to show the Majors that the Mets aren't just throwing run down players on to the field, and instead start to show some teams & fans our youth, one player being Chris Carter who they acquired for Billy Wagner from the Red Sox. Chris Carter is a first baseman and corner outfielder similar to Fernando Tatis and is a switch hittter, so having Carter will give Jerry Manuel more options opposed to having Tatis. This Spring in 14 games and 26 at bats he has 3 homeruns and 8 RBIS with a .385 average. Carter i also think has a better attitude; i say that because Carter is like a Daniel Murphy who is always working for an opportunity to show the manager who he is. Fernando Tatis on the other hand i just feel that he thinks he has a job wrapped up already. The last note on this debate is i know the Texas Rangers are looking for utility infield help, so if the Rangers are interested in Tatis they are also getting a possible 3rd baseman and an outfielder. So what do you think; do you like the youth and the hustler or the double play machine?
